Imperial Global x Communiqué Mixer
Last week in Abuja, the UK MEET Fellowship brought Nigerian journalists and creators together with researchers, regulators and editors for five days. The fellows worked on reporting AI, climate risk, biomedical innovation, e-waste and verification during an election period. Now the conversation moves to Lagos.
Imperial Global and Communiqué are bringing Lagos’s science, technology, and innovation community together for an evening during Moonshot Week, with support from the British High Commission. The evening asks one question: how does Nigerian media cover science, technology and innovation today, and what would it take to cover it well?
At the centre of the evening is a town hall. Our featured speakers come from the newsroom, the lab and the startup world. They will open each question, and then the floor is yours:
What Nigerian media gets right about science, tech and innovation, and what it keeps getting wrong
What researchers, founders and regulators owe journalists, and what journalists owe them
Who pays for serious science and tech journalism in Nigerian newsrooms
How newsrooms should handle AI-generated content, election technology claims and campaign promises ahead of the January 2027 elections
We will also celebrate the Lagos-based winners of the UK MEET Fellowship pitch competition. The fellowship trains Nigerian journalists and creators to report on science, technology and innovation with accuracy, depth and reach.
Drinks and networking follow the town hall.
