About Event

Participants will explore core principles of consent-based practices, boundary setting, choreography, and rehearsal protocols that can be adapted for educational, community, and professional theatre settings. Through discussion, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, attendees will gain strategies for facilitating rehearsals that foster trust, artistic freedom, and ethical collaboration.

Whether you are directing productions, teaching theatre, stage managing, or supporting student performers, this workshop offers actionable techniques that can be immediately implemented in your creative practice.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of an intimacy director.

  • Apply consent-based communication and boundary-setting practices.

  • Stage intimate moments using choreography rather than improvisation.

  • Navigate power dynamics and foster collaborative rehearsal spaces.

  • Incorporate trauma-informed approaches into rehearsal processes.

  • Adapt intimacy practices for educational, community, and professional theatre environments.
