Electricity grids: Powering the next chapter of the energy transition
In a joint conversation, Beatriz Corredor, Chairwoman of Redeia, and Antonella Battaglini, CEO of the Renewables Grid Initiative, will analyze how a sustainable deployment of electricity grids is key to the implementation of the electrification agenda in the wake of an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.
As Spain’s transmission system operator (TSO) and an active player in the Latin American ecosystem, Redeia offers a unique perspective drawn from its experience managing one of the EU’s most advanced electricity systems, where renewable sources account for over 60% of power generation. This track record proves how the TSO model, adopted across most of the EU, can enable rapid electrification and contribute to the climate goals, all while ensuring system reliability and strong engagement with society.
The discussion will explore key issues including new grid needs, cross-border interconnections, and the role of electrification in strengthening energy security and reducing strategic dependencies. It will also examine how sustainability can remain at the core of Europe and Latin America’s energy transition. The conversation will conclude with a Q&A session with participants.
