​Join Difficult Women Book Club and Backstory for a special session examining the ways society commodifies women’s bodies. How do beauty standards, diet culture, and sex work shape the value placed on women, and who benefits from it?

​Through novels and nonfiction, we will trace the systems that profit from female labor, appearance, and desire, and the ways writers expose, resist, and challenge them.

Difficult Women Book Club is a global book club reading books by women authors.

​Founded in Barcelona in 2023, we’ve since grown to 74 cities around the world, all reading the same book each month. We meet once a month, and everyone is welcome!
