Learning AI Basics with Space Data on Google Cloud - Mansi More
On the occasion of India’s Republic Day, the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST)'s AI club is hosting a special hands-on AI workshop led by Mansi More. This workshop is designed for students and professionals who want to learn AI fundamentals using real space data.
After completing the GenAI hands-on series in Silicon Valley, this learning journey now begins in India, starting at IIST, with a strong focus on space science, practical understanding, and real-world applications.
You will learn how Generative AI works behind the scenes and how it is applied in space research. By the end of the session, you will build a real AI Satellite Agent using Google Cloud Vertex AI and Gemini.
No heavy theory.
No complex math.
Just clear explanations, live demos, and hands-on learning.
📅 Workshop Agenda
You will explore AI the same way real engineers and researchers do, through prompts, experiments, and live demonstrations.
In this workshop, you will learn:
AI in Space
Introduction to available space datasets
Overview of space research resources
2. Evolution of Machine Learning
Comparison of traditional ML workflows from 2022
How AI workflows are faster and more efficient in 2026
3. Generative AI Fundamentals
Understanding the Generative AI workflow
What RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) is
What Fine-Tuning is and when it is used
4. Prompt Engineering
How to design effective prompts
How prompts control AI behavior
Understanding model settings such as:
Temperature
Top K
Top P
5. Hands-on Lab
Generate a website in under 2 minutes using Vertex AI Studio
Work directly with AI models in a visual environment
6. Live Demo
Build an AI Satellite Agent within few minutes
Predict satellite launch outcomes using AI
We will use Google Cloud Vertex AI Studio, a visual and beginner-friendly platform that makes AI experimentation simple and safe.
