About Event

Following strong interest in a virtual participation option after our inaugural in-person event, this session will be held online—making it easier for colleagues who are traveling or based outside the Washington, DC area to participate.

Reimagining Funding Award Size: Are Bigger Grants Better?

This session will feature Shawn Peabody and Nick Salafsky, authors of the issue paper Reimagining Funding Award Size. Drawing on evidence and experience from across the conservation field, the paper explores a fundamental question for funders and practitioners alike: how does the size of funding awards influence conservation outcomes, organizational effectiveness, equity, and resilience?

The discussion will examine the tradeoffs associated with larger versus smaller grants and challenge assumptions about how conservation funding can be structured to maximize impact. Expect a 20-30 min overview by the paper’s authors followed by a moderated Q&A and discussion.
