This session explores how climate change worsens the water crisis and spotlights community-driven, Indigenous, and women-led solutions for water access and climate resilience. This session will explore the intersection of water access, climate adaptation, and social equity, focusing on direct financial support for Indigenous peoples, gender-responsive financing, and community-driven models. We will also dive into climate-induced migration, the role of renewable energy, and how targeted solutions can alleviate the burden of water collection on women and girls. Lastly, we’ll discuss how watershed management and improving water quality can be key pillars in climate adaptation strategies.

Discussion Questions

  • How does climate change intensify the global water crisis, affecting access to clean water and sanitation for billions?

  • What role can community-led, women-led, and Indigenous efforts play in driving innovative water solutions?
