​Francois spent his early career on investment bank trading floors, building derivatives businesses for hedge funds. He's a chartered accountant and a CFA charterholder.

​He moved from South Africa to Sydney in December 2019, weeks before the world shut down. Two years later he and his co-founder Jaco Veldsman had built Paytron, a platform that lets a business pay its suppliers, run its payroll and move money in more than thirty currencies from one screen.

​They built it from a desk at Stone & Chalk. Scaled it. Sold it to an ASX-listed buyer, all in just 2.5 years.
