Remathau: People of the Ocean 70-minute documentary follows the extraordinary journey of Dr. Nicole Yamase — the first Micronesian to earn a PhD in Marine Biology and the first Micronesian to reach the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
Through this historic dive and a deeper exploration of identity, culture, and belonging, Nicole reconnects with the resilience of her people and the wisdom of generations of ocean navigators.
As OneReef's Director of Impact, Dr. Yamase helps lead efforts to advance ocean science, conservation, and community-led stewardship across Micronesia.
