It’s the week of April Fools — a fitting time to gather around the most underrated figure in philosophy, mythology, and modern life: the Fool.
In a world teetering between tragedy and absurdity, humor has become both mirror and medicine. We laugh at our politicians, get our news from stand-up comedians, and share memes as a way of metabolizing grief. But beyond the punchline, humor is one of the most powerful tools we have: to integrate our shadows, to accept the contradictions in others, and connect with others. Historically in royal courts, the jester was the only one allowed to mock the king — a sacred role to speak truth to power, through humor.
For this Friday's Olito, we’ll explore the fool not as a means of avoidance, but as a necessary archetype — the truth-teller, the risk-taker, the one with nothing to lose and everything to reveal.
Through lightly guided reflection, activities and collective conversation, we’ll ask: What role does humor play in a well-lived life? And how might we make space for more of it — not just for fun, but for connection, truth, and maybe even grace?
Come curious. Come willing to look a little ridiculous. Come in honor of the Fool in all of us.
This event is free! Delicious wine, beer and mocktails as well as homemade pizza available for purchase (and it helps us make the case that Little Honey should keep hosting Olito here 🙏)

In a community effort against the loneliness epidemic and political nihilism, custom-made conversation cards on communal tables invite guests to explore culture, creativity, and connection with strangers at this social club / wine bar.
We dream of a phone-less bar. We won't tell you to put it away but our hope is that the vibe will be so good, you won't even remember you have an instagram.
