Bay Area changemaker gathering: Play & connection in nature
At Design Changemakers, we believe we can shape liberatory futures with collective imagination.
Join us at a special Bay Area community gathering for a moment of imaginative play, grounding in nature, and connection with fellow changemakers.
What we'll do
We'll connect with nature through a grounding exercise with art materials facilitated by Imène Ghernati (She/Her).
We'll then practice collective imagination in a play session with design changemaking cards facilitated by Sandra Camacho (She/Her).
The rest of the time will be shaped in the moment by those present — expect deep conversation, somatic and grounding exercises, and some fun!
Where & when
We'll be meeting in Golden Gate Park (precise location to be provided for registrants only) on Thursday, August 20th, 5:30-8pm (or later!).
Community solidarity & reciprocity
To honor solidarity and reciprocity, every person attending is expected to contribute in a way that's accessible to them. We will provide water, chai tea, snacks (fruits & cake), art materials, and blankets.
You can do your part by:
bringing something (additional food & beverages, cups, utensils, napkins, games, etc)
providing a $5-10 financial contribution (to cover food & beverage costs)
offering to carpool with other attendees
facilitating a conversation or activity
volunteering to support with setup, clean up, or communication
Access, inclusion, and safety
Inclusion & Safety: We're committed to make this gathering safe and inclusive to all of those present. All attendees must be manually approved by the conveners and must abide by our community agreements upon registering.
Accessibility: The four locations we are considering all provide extensive accessibility options. We will provide specific details once the location is confirmed.
Food & Beverage: Please note dietary restrictions (e.g. kosher, gluten-free, allergies, etc.) in your registration so we can discuss appropriate alternatives. We can't guarantee that items provided by other attendees can abide by your stated preferences. If you have any doubts/concerns, we invite you to bring your own food & beverages.
