About Event

Join us for a meaningful community conversation about relationships, love, and dating as a Muslim in the modern world, featuring Alae Kawam, author of Love Rebel: Faith, Modern Love, and the Complications of Being a “Good Girl.”

In her memoir, Alae shares her deeply personal journey of navigating love and identity as a Muslim-American-Syrian woman living in the United States. Caught in a three-way tug-of-war between Syrian traditions, American ideals, and Islamic principles, she explores what it means to find love while remaining true to yourself.

Her journey is about more than dating. It is about identity, faith, family, womanhood, ambition, and the struggle to build a life without sacrificing your values—or yourself.

Come join us for an honest and thought-provoking conversation about the realities of modern Muslim love, the pressures surrounding marriage, and what it means to be a “good girl” in a world that is constantly asking us to choose between who we are and who we are expected to be.

Come with questions. Come with stories. Come as you are.

*The author has generously shared a PDF of her book with Grassroots, so that folks can take a look at it ahead of time. This is for Grassroots only - please do not share the PDF!
