About Event

Come talk with the New York City Home Assistant community!

Home Assistant is an open source platform that lets you control and automate practically everything in your home - lights, sensors, thermostats, cameras, and more - without giving your data away to Big Tech. As one of the biggest open source projects on GitHub, it's powered by a worldwide network of makers, hackers, and everyday folks who want their homes to be smarter without submitting to surveillance capitalism.

At this meetup, you can expect:

  • Demos and show-and-tells from those who have setups they want to show, possibly even showing off the setup at the venue itself

  • Exchanging tips and tricks from longtime Home Assistant users

  • A friendly space to ask questions, regardless of skill level (no dumb questions)

  • Giveaways, courtesy of Apollo Automation and Nabu Casa!

  • Paulus Schoutsen, the creator of Home Assistant and the head of the Open Home Foundation, will be attending! Also meet some of the developers from the OpenDisplay project!

The location is almost certainly going to be at 47 Thames Street in Brooklyn, located about two blocks away from the Morgan Avenue stop on the L train. Our co-host handling the location is finalizing where in the building specifically it'll take place; that information will be coming soon.
