Black Art Week: Preview Reception
In celebration of Black Art Week, Joyce Gordon Gallery invites collectors, stewards, leaders, and community members to an exclusive preview of "Outside: Escapism” — created by De’Vonne Foxworth and curated by Tolani Verissimo. Presented by The Joyce Gordon Foundation.
Rooted in the historical ontology of Black artistic expression, "Outside: Escapism" explores the concept of the "outside" not merely as a physical environment, but as a mental, emotional, and spiritual refuge. This exhibition examines how Black creators dismantle institutional walls, process historical trauma, and construct radical spaces of joy, healing, and freedom.
