Nucleate X Debiopharm - AI in Healthcare: Bridging the Gap Between Innovation and Adoption
Event Synopsis
Artificial intelligence is reshaping drug discovery and digital health at pace. Yet the majority of promising innovations never reach patients. The bottleneck is rarely the science.
This panel cuts through the noise and goes back to basics: who defines the problem, who pays for the solution, and how does it fit within the organisations that need to adopt it? Bringing together perspectives from pharma, healthcare providers, and regulatory authorities, we will examine the structural, cultural, and evidential barriers that determine whether an AI-driven innovation succeeds or stalls at the clinic door. Speakers will draw on direct experience navigating these tensions — from scaling digital health inside large pharma to advising startups on clinical translation and navigating regulatory pathways — offering an honest account of what works, what does not, and why.
We are pleased to introduce the panellists joining us:
- Stephen Ranjan — formerly Head of Digital at @Roche, now Founder & CEO at @Sentient Health Stephen has spent years inside one of pharma's largest digital health buildouts. He will speak to how pharma defines problems before building solutions, why adoption fails even when the science holds up, and what large organisations actually evaluate when engaging with AI startups.
- Daniel Heller — Chairman of @KSB & @HIH Daniel brings the perspective of healthcare systems and hospital environments. He will cover what providers need to see before integrating AI tools into clinical workflows, and the practical realities of moving from pilot to scale.
- Claus Bolte — former Chief Medical Officer, Swissmedic, Now Non Executive Director at @University Hospital Basel Claus brings a regulatory lens to the conversation. He will address the Swiss and European pathways for AI-driven health technologies, how to build validation frameworks that satisfy both regulators and payers, and when to engage regulatory bodies in your development journey.
Last but not least, our fourth speaker is from Debiopharm and will be disclosed in the coming days.
This event is relevant for early-career scientists considering industry roles, founders building at the intersection of AI and healthcare, and anyone seeking to understand how the real-world adoption of health technology actually happens.
