The 2nd Conference on the Promotion of Engineering Application of Unmanned Mining Trucks 2026
I. Background
By 2026, the application of autonomous mining trucks is entering a critical phase of large-scale operation, driven by the dual engines of technological iteration and the expansion of operational scenarios. As a national comprehensive energy base, Shanxi is reshaping mining production paradigms through digital and intelligent empowerment: Yangquan Jidong Cement has achieved fully unmanned transport across its entire site, while the Eastern Open-pit Mine of ChinaCoal Pingshuo Group in Shuozhou utilizes 5G technology to coordinate the entire process of extraction, hauling, and dumping. To date, the province has established 298 intelligent coal mines, accounting for 65.5% of total production capacity, ranking first nationwide.
Currently, Shanxi is accelerating the formulation of its "15th Five-Year Plan" for energy transition, explicitly targeting the development of AI application scenarios such as intelligent dispatching for mining trucks. However, achieving large-scale operation still requires overcoming key challenges, such as adapting technology to extreme working conditions and ensuring high-precision coordination between mining trucks and electric shovels. Centered on the theme "Intelligent Connectivity in Mining Operations," this conference emphasizes "end-to-end process coordination." The concept of "Intelligent Connectivity" reflects the digitization of transport and operational workflows enabled by autonomous mining trucks and robots, while "Intelligent Connectivity" signifies both the integration of technologies and the gathering of industry elites.
