Art Club with Julie Meridian

​Julie Meridian primarily works in richly layered acrylic. She also works as a UX Designer. She proposed this super fun project for Art Club and I immediately said yes — repainting Chinese scroll calendars.

How would you complete the picture? Making art feels different when you’re not starting from scratch, especially when you can see the possibilities in everyday objects. In this session, you’ll start with a Chinese calendar scroll — the kind you might see as a giveaway at your local restaurant — and build upon it to create a new piece of art that is “finished” based on what YOU think it needs. You’ll be guided through how to envision your idea, how to color-match, repeat, and extend details to “remove” what you don’t want, and guidance to paint or collage in any new elements you do want.
