West African marine and coastal areas are essential to biodiversity conservation, food security, coastal livelihoods and climate resilience.
Following the commitments made by West African states at the 12th PRCM Forum in Nouakchott, and as Senegal prepares to host IMPAC6 in Dakar from 22 to 27 March 2027, the first edition held in Africa, this high-level policy roundtable will bring together government representatives, regional and international organizations, technical and financial partners, scientists, MPA managers and civil society.
It aims to reaffirm States’ commitment to the 30x30 target and the implementation of the BBNJ Agreement, build on the outcomes of the Our Ocean Conference in Kenya and the PRCM Forum, and increase the international visibility of IMPAC6.
