About Event

Lunatechs x BCHK Presents:

Grab a boba and come hang for a chill, hands-on afternoon. Have an idea for an app but don't know how to code? Welcome to the era of "vibe coding"—where you can build real software just by describing what you want in plain English.

In this session, we are stripping away the complex tech jargon. Whether you're an incoming Cal freshman wanting a head start or a non-technical founder, we'll walk you through how to vibe code your very own custom Note-Taking Application from scratch.

What we'll do together:

  • Set up Cursor: Get your laptop geared up with the ultimate AI code editor.

  • Build a Note-Taking App: We'll show you exactly how to prompt the AI to build a functional app interface and logic.

  • Run it Locally: Learn the absolute basics of spinning up a local server so you can actually use the app you just built on your own machine.

Hanley, Jason, and the crew will be floating around to help you troubleshoot, share prompt engineering tips, and make sure everyone leaves with a working app.

What to bring:

  • Your laptop and charger.

  • Optional but recommended: Download Cursor before you arrive to save time!

About the Hosts: Hosted by Lunatechs founder Hanley Leung (Engineering Leader, ex-Apple/EA/Yahoo!) and Jason Xu (Product leader, ex-Google/Alibaba)

About Lunatechs: Lunatechs is a community for people crazy about technology. Founders, developers, AI builders, creators, and tech enthusiasts. In today's AI world, teams are getting smaller and more solo, and many of us spend long hours at our computers building the future. Our casual events are designed to break that pattern. Get outside, connect with fellow builders in the real world, and have a good time doing it.

About The Berkeley Club of Hong Kong: BCHK provides a way for its members to stay involved with the university, build friendships, network with one another, and support the university’s efforts toward broadening its profile in Hong Kong.

We organize a wide variety of events to keep your Cal spirit alive throughout the year, including outdoor recreational activities, social gatherings, speaker events, and professional networking opportunities.

Come for the code, stay for the boba!
