Introduction to Qigong
Qigong (pronounced Chee-Gong) is an ancient health practice that originated in China over 4,000 years ago. It includes slow, graceful movements synchronized with the breath, returning the body to a relaxed, calm state.
Radiant Lotus Qigong was created to help people from all walks of life heal, nourish, and harmonize their body, mind, and emotions, discovering a deeper level of health and well-being. As both a relaxation therapist and a Certified RLQ Instructor, one of the aspects of this gentle Yin system is that literally anyone may do this, either from a seated position on a comfortable chair or from standing; every part of this may be modified for the individual.
Many scientific studies have shown that a regular Qigong practice may:
- increase well-being and vitality: by reducing blood pressure, improving cardiovascular health.
- reduce chronic pain: through visualization, synchronizing body movement with the breath to eventually reduce chronic and arthritic pain
- improve circulation: with the practice of key breathing techniques, you increase the flow of oxygen within the body.
- relieve stress: it lowers the stress hormone cortisol, decreases the stress response, and helps with depression and anxiety.
- accelerate healing, increase energy, cultivate self-love and kindness, and improve mental focus and clarity.
What to expect, A brief introduction, a gentle warmup, and the five essential Radiant Lotus Qigong movements. I teach Yin & Yang Movements both from a seated position as well as from standing and will be demonstrating both. Dress in comfortable clothes for easy movement, and have some water on hand.
I look forward to sharing this gentle and beautiful introduction with you all. As my teacher often shared, "Let's Play Qigong."
