A Crash Course in Interactive Art

​Interactive art has worked to push boundaries in creativity, technology and society. This talk will explore the vast landscape of interactive art in 60 minutes. We'll take a brief look at the history of the field, notable figures and new innovations from current artists. Participants will walk away with an fresh understanding of the genre and have an opportunity to ask questions before they dive into MULTIFest. No prior knowledge necessary.

About your presenter: Ashley Jane Lewis is a new media artist and creative technologist with a focus on interactive installations, bio art, social justice and speculative design. She holds degrees in New Media Art from Toronto Metropolitan University and ITP from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Her artistic practice explores Black cultures of the past, present and future through computational and analog mediums including coding and digital and physical fabrication, textiles, data weaving, microorganisms and live performance. She is an Assistant Professor in New Media Art at Toronto Metropolitan University.
