At our next session, Emil Wåreus is going to explore the latest and greatest in open-source Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech, and build own fully local AI voice assistant from scratch covering:
👂 Whisper for hearing (STT)
🗣️ Kokoro for speaking (TTS)
🔍 VAD (Voice Activity Detection) so it knows when to listen
🛠️ Gluing it all together and deploying it locally
The Warm-up: AI Release Radar
Before the demo, we will kick things off with our AI Release Radar and scan the latest happenings in the AI community —LLM drops, AI/ML white papers, and the news that actually matters to AI Engineers & Developers. 🤖📚 🛰️

📍Entrance: Enter via Fyrtornet (Spazio restaurant), go up to the 2nd floor, cross the bridge to the Drivbänken building (Dawit Isaak Library), and continue to the "tree stairs auditorium". With from now on ongoing access to this venue expect Barrel AI events to become more regular! ✨
