오랜만에 10년 지기 친구 Teddy Cross를 만났습니다. Sequoia Capital로부터 약 1,400억 원($100M) 투자를 유치하며 기업 가치 1조 4,000억 원($1B) 유니콘을 일군 Playco의 Founder & CPO인데요. 앞으로는 대형 행사·박람회보다 SF 커피숍에서의 우연한 만남, 친구 집 부엌에서 같이 저녁을 해 먹으며 나누는 오프라인 소모임 대화에서 훨씬 더 많은 인사이트를 얻었다고 말해줬습니다.
I finally got to sit down with an old friend, Teddy Cross — Founder & CPO of Playco, a $1B unicorn that raised $100M from Sequoia Capital — someone I've known for over a decade. What struck me most was something he said: the best insights he's had this year didn't come from big conferences or trade shows. They came from running into someone at a coffee shop in SF, or cooking dinner with friends at someone's place and just talking.

That idea stuck with me, and honestly, it's become one of the core reasons Claude Bloom exists. We want to catch those raw, unfiltered conversations before they get cleaned up and flattened into social media posts. The more AI floods us with slop, the more a real conversation with a real person starts to feel like a superpower. Humans have always had this incredible edge over other animals, the ability to read someone's emotions just from their face. The insights that come out of those in-person, in-sync moments are going to matter more and more in the AI age. And English stops being just a communication tool. It becomes the thing that gets you in the room.
