About Event

Join us for a night of knitting and crocheting and resisting! Come make a knitted or crocheted square that represents an issue you are passionate about. We will string the squares together to make a community fiber banner of protest!

*Participants are expected to bring their own materials. Here And Now Crafts will provide snacks and soft drinks!

You’re welcome to bring a plain 10” x 10” knit or crochet square to work on during the session. We’ll guide you through techniques like duplicate stitch, cross stitch, and simple embroidery so you can add words or meaningful designs to your piece.

If you’d prefer to create something from scratch, you can explore colorwork during our time together. For those with prior experience in colorwork, please bring approximately 230 grams of DK weight yarn and a pair of US 6 needles. We’ll have printed charts from Pacific Knit Co. as well as graph paper available to help you plan and design your piece.

If you’re newer to colorwork, you can still participate by working on a blank square and adding designs using duplicate stitch. A US 5 or US 6 needle will work well for this option.

Crocheters, please bring a 4mm hook. A plain square will use approximately 65–70 grams of yarn, and if you plan to work in color, you’ll want at least 150 grams.
