Creative Showcase Vol. 6
A chance for creatives to show off what they’ve been working on or be inspired by others in a series of quickfire 20-slide presentations.
This is an opportunity to share a creative project that you have been working on with the Index Community in the form of a Pecha Kucha – a quick style of presenting where each person will present 20 slides, for 20 seconds each. This fast pace encourages storytellers to be concise, creative, and to the point—perfect for keeping the audience’s attention.
Whether you are presenting or just attending, this is an open forum, a space to gather and share, a place to mingle with other NYC creatives.
Facilitator Bio
Katie Ehrlich is a Brooklyn-based independent graphic designer and photographer specializing in editorial and branding projects. Her clients have ranged from brands like Google, American Express, and TikTok to publications for Stanford, the Smithsonian, and Cultured Magazine. Her work has been recognized by Communication Arts, Black + White Photography, and the CASE Awards.

Maryana Malashkina, Mizmaze: A Typographic Exploration of Labyrinthine Systems
A physical labyrinth has a plan. Walls, hedges, or other boundaries guide or obstruct movement, shaping the path of the traveler. Should text function like a labyrinth, it must be one of symbols and ideas, whose structure is difficult, if not impossible, to fully grasp. Mizmaze translates this metaphor into typographic form: a display typeface with extended latin support that imagines text as a space to meander. Built from a modular system, each glyph contains an internal pathway. As the letters combine to form words, these pathways connect to form continuous visual corridors. Reading can therefore be understood as a labyrinthine exploration. The typeface is translated into a set of physical stamps, which treat the letterforms as tangible units that can be handled and rearranged to construct custom typographic labyrinths. When we encounter these letters as physical objects, we determine the structure, complexity, and directionality of the labyrinth.

Spare is a side hustle platform turning your spare time into money, skills, or good karma by connecting people for quick jobs, skill exchanges, and community support. Through an app, custom QR codes, and local touchpoints, it makes work feel accessible and human.
Shawki Izzat, The Belonging Tree
The Belonging Tree is an interactive installation and web-based data visualization that explores global interconnectedness and identity through migration and movement. Framed as a collaborative digital artwork, the project invites participants, especially those with multicultural backgrounds, to reflect on the countries that have influenced their sense of self. Through individual inputs, users contribute to the growth of a shared, evolving tree, where each entry becomes part of a collective structure. By aggregating personal narratives into a living visualization, The Belonging Tree reveals that despite our varied backgrounds and the many places we come from, we are united by a shared humanity—seeking connection, meaning, and a sense of belonging in the same world.
