First Friday Art Crawl + Preview Sean Martorana Mural at Elfreth's Alley

​A crew of Indy Hall members have a tradition of walking down to Old City on First Fridays and check out as much free art as we can. We'd love you to join us!

​Meet at the Indy Hall Clubhouse in Northern Liberties at 5:00 PM for a round of toasts to the week, then leave promptly at 5:30 to walk to Old City as a group.

​Our favorite spots to hit typically include Paradigm Gallery + Studio, Arch Enemy Arts, and Jane Gallery...plus anything new and special we can check out!

​This month features something extra special for the Indy Hall community:

​Longtime Indy Hall member and Philadelphia artist Sean Martorana is in the process of painting a very large mural right at 2nd and Elfreth's Alley, one of the longest continuously inhabited streets in the US and one of the most visited in Philadelphia.

​Come out and:

• ​See the blank wall before it's transformed

• ​Peek inside the studio and process where the mural is being painted before it's installed

• ​Possibly paint a small square to have a hand in the making of it

​We're aiming to meet up a the mural site by 6-6:30pm, if you'd prefer to meet us there instead of at the Clubhouse!

​Also happening on First Friday nearby:

​M.Scooot — who created the animated mural above the couch in the Indy Hall Skyroom — is showing at Two Street Gallery, right across the street from Sean's mural and studio. The gallery is run by photographer Mario Oliveto and culinary creative Chelsea Shae, and is attached to a boutique hotel with a speakeasy in the basement and a courtyard out back.

​The Museum for Art in Wood has a new group exhibition — one of the artists helping paint Sean's mural helped install the show. Their gift shop alone is worth the trip.

​48 Record Bar is hosting a popup in the Elfreth's Alley Museum Garden.
