Indy Hall MiniBar: 19th Anniversary Celebration
Did you know that Monday, September 1 marked Indy Hall’s 19th anniversary? It’s possible you did not know this because we have not celebrated…yet. So we’ll be celebrating together on Saturday, October 4. SAVE THE DATE NOW!
I think the best way to celebrate our anniversary is to be constructive and creative while we plan for the future of Indy Hall. The goal of our celebration? Make Indy Hall as good as it can be so we can reach our 20th anniversary.
So on October 4, we’ll gather at the Indy Hall Clubhouse for a full day of planning Indy Hall’s future together. And we’ll have a lot of fun doing it.
Have you ever heard of BarCamp?
BarCamp is a kind of conference where the programming, what people actually talk about all day, is decided by the attendees. BarCamp has a very special role in Indy Hall’s origin — the original idea for Indy Hall was first shared in a BarCamp talk alllllll the way back in 2006.
On Saturday, October 4, we’ll be hosting a small, special kinda BarCamp, exclusively focused on the future of our community. I’m calling this: Indy Hall MiniBar.
This is, uh, a working title? Maybe one of the things we can co-create together on October 4 is A BETTER NAME! 😬
Here’s how Indy Hall MiniBar is going to work:
The clubhouse will be divided into different zones, and each zone will host a specific, themed conversation about Indy Hall. For example, up on the Roof Deck, we might be discussing Indy Hall merch, mugs, and apparel. Meanwhile, downstairs in the Boardroom, a different group will be dreaming up what indy Hall will look like in 2050.
Everyone will be encourage to scrawl notes on whiteboards, dream big or small, and share anything and everything on their mind.
There will be 3 zones, which means 3 ongoing conversations. Conversations will run for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, we’ll blow a whistle and everyone will rotate to a new zone for a new conversation.
There will be two MiniBar sessions throughout the day, and each one will be ~2 hours
Morning Session: 10:30am to 12pm (30min report to conclude)
Afternoon Session: 2:30pm to 4pm (30min report to conclude)
Each session will end with a ~30min wrap-up where we reconnect and share our favorite highlights from each conversation.
Finally, our day concludes at Future Days for a birthday happy hour celebration. Happy hour starts at 5pm.

BarCamp Philly is an important part of Indy Hall’s past, and inviting members to enjoy a BarCamp experience just for Indy Hall related ideas will help us build Indy Hall’s future.
Plan to attend any part of October 4’s celebration: come for the morning session, the afternoon session, both, or just the happy hour celebration at the end of the day. We’ll all be buzzing with creative aspiration and excitement for our future, and we’ll celebrate our anniversary by sharing stories, ideas, and plans for our best year yet.
