Inside The AI Whistleblower Initiative: What to Know About Speaking Up at an AI Lab
How do you actually raise a concern from inside a frontier AI lab?
The AI Whistleblower Initiative (AIWI) is the nonprofit built to answer this question. AIWI supports AI lab employees who want to raise concerns about their work safely. The organization does this through research, policy advocacy, and access to vetted legal and financial resources—while educating the broader AI community about these pathways through campaigns, webinars, and events, all with source protection at its core.
Recent work includes contributing to global first: an AI-specific regulatory whistleblowing channel at the EU AI Office, building a coalition to oppose preemption in AI Law, being featured in The Information and Transformer News about our Publish Your Policy campaign, and speaking about the wider need for protections on Nathan Labenz's 'The Cognitive Revolution' podcast.
