Kuku くく: International Animated Short Film Night Beyond the Ordinary — Dante Zaballa × Ryoji Yamada
Kuku is an evening of independent animated short films at FabCafe Tokyo, curated and hosted by two animators: Dante Zaballa (Buenos Aires / New York) and Ryoji Yamada (Tokyo, mimoid).
The screening runs about an hour: handmade, unconventional shorts from around the world, chosen by the two hosts and shown alongside some of their own work. Afterwards, the two talk about how they make their work, and there is time to stay and chat.

Hosts
Dante Zaballa is an animator and director from Buenos Aires, working between Buenos Aires and New York. His colourful, hand-drawn, frame-by-frame 2D animation includes the music video Uninhuman (2025) for Juana Molina. Instagram @dantezaballa
Ryoji Yamada (山田遼志) is an animator and director based in Tokyo and a co-founder of mimoid. He created the animation for King Gnu's Prayer X music video (with director OSRIN) and directed the ODDTAXI opening. His most recent short is Builder (2026). Instagram @ryoji_yamada
Practical information
Admission: ¥2,500, paid on the day at the 1F cafe when you pick up your drink. It includes one drink, popcorn and the Kuku keychain. Registering on Luma is free, but please register to hold your seat. Additional drinks are available at the 1F cafe.
Language: The talk is in Japanese and English, with no interpretation. Most films have no dialogue. During the Q&A, staff can help with questions in either language.
Venue: FabCafe Tokyo 2F, 1-22-7 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, about five minutes' walk from Shibuya Station.
Photography: Photos and video will be taken during the event and may be used by FabCafe, Loftwork and the hosts on their websites and social media. If you would rather not appear, choose that option when you register and let us know at reception.
Capacity is limited and registration is required. If you can no longer attend, please cancel so your seat can go to someone on the waitlist.

くく（Kuku）：型破りな国際アニメーション短編映画の夜
くく（Kuku）は、2人のアニメーション作家がセレクトし、ホストを務めるインディー短編アニメーションの上映会です。ホストを務めるのは、ブエノスアイレスとニューヨークを拠点に活動するDante Zaballaと、東京を拠点に活動するmimoid共同設立者の山田遼志です。
2人が選んだ世界各地の短編アニメーションを、それぞれの作品も交えて約1時間上映します。手でつくられた、少し不思議な作品が中心です。上映後には、制作のプロセスや手法をめぐる2人のトークと、交流の時間を設けています。

ホスト
Dante Zaballa ブエノスアイレス出身のアニメーション作家・映像監督で、現在はブエノスアイレスとニューヨークを拠点に活動しています。カラフルな手描きのフレーム・バイ・フレームによる2Dアニメーションを制作しており、Juana Molina「Uninhuman」（2025）のMVなどを手がけています。Instagram @dantezaballa

言語： トークは日本語と英語で行います（通訳はありません）。ほとんどの作品にセリフはありません。質疑応答では、日本語・英語どちらのご質問もスタッフがサポートします。
