Jewish Bring-a-Book Club
In yet another expression of the antisemitism that's been unfortunately 'on trend' of late, book publishers are reportedly imposing a "not-so-silent moratorium" on Jewish and Israeli authors.
To protest this, we're organizing a 'bring-a-book club' for the People of the Book.
At this first event, we're inviting attendees to bring with them a beloved book by a Jewish author which they'd like to discuss with others.
It could be a novel you love, something you’re halfway through, a book of poetry, Jewish history, philosophy, Torah, mysticism, memoir, politics — or something you’ve been meaning to read for years.
We’ll gather at Avir for an easygoing evening of conversation and meeting new people. Everyone will have a chance to introduce what they brought and why it matters to them, followed by plenty of time to mingle, browse each other’s books, and continue the conversations that catch your interest.

You don’t need to be particularly literary, religious, or knowledgeable about Jewish books.
Jews and non-Jews; all welcome to attend. Come with a book. Leave with a reading list and new friends :)
Capacity: We're limiting registrations to just 20 people to keep the event cozy and intimate :)
This event is co-presented by Avir and the Downtown Toronto Jewish Alliance.
