⚖️ What Every Founder Should Know About Contracts, Capital, and Control

About the Session

Legal matters can feel daunting, but they are one of the most critical parts of building a business. From drafting your first contract to negotiating with investors, every decision affects your control, protection, and long-term success as a founder.

In this Founder Labs session, Lizzie Chan, a corporate lawyer and angel investor, will unpack the founder side of legal preparation. She will break down what goes into key agreements, how to protect your position when raising capital, and how to avoid the common mistakes that often come back to haunt startups later.

This session is designed for non-lawyers who want practical insights they can apply right away. Whether you are a founder, investor, or early-stage entrepreneur, you will gain a grounded understanding of what to look for in agreements, what investors expect, and how to approach legal and commercial questions with confidence.
