Built Different: Ft Base44
BUILT DIFFERENT is a two-day builder house for builders, doers and creatives who want to push the boundaries of what's possible and who are, well... built different. 🤝
If you are someone who sees things differently, spots opportunities others overlook, and want to build out an idea in a space where money is currently being left on the table, then Built Different is for you. (see previous build example).
Across two days, you'll move between learning and building with technical veteran mentors, exited founders, repeat operators and the right creators around you to help you push your build further.
How it works:
Apply with a video covering who you are & what you're building.
30 builders selected to be part of the competition
You have 2.5 days to build and ship
Get mentored by tech veterans, including the likes of Calvin Hoenes...
Pitch to the Judges for your chance to win 🏆 (3x Tier 1 VCs)
Everything will be filmed to document the process.
The team with the most cutting-edge build at the end of 2 days wins a cash prize.

Why are we "built different?"
Most hackathons end with another dashboard, another AI wrapper, and a demo that never leaves the room.
We're not interested in that.
We want to see what happens when talented people have the time, tools and right people around them, without being told exactly what to make.
What you build is up to you. Just...Make it interesting.
We are keeping this curated to a small group of 20-30 builders.
At the end of the weekend, we're not asking:
“Who gave the best pitch?”
We're asking:
“Who built something different?”
But that's not all...
As AI has commoditised our ability to build & ship fast... something deeper is emerging.
Distribution, trust, and community-led growth have become the real moat. The businesses that understand this are the ones building not just the future of tech, but the future of tech that people actually use.
Step 1 is shipping the product. Step 2 is getting people to care.
Part 2 will be all about matching you with the right people to create your unfair advantage.
Successful applicants will be contacted by email. There is an optional carpool group chat.
