About Event

AI can fix your code... but it cannot fix bad architecture decisions.

Join us for Roast My TechStack, an interactive sessions where builders put their actual builds and architecture decisions on the table for other technical folks to question, challenge, and learn from.

Not another AI panel. Not another hackathon. Just real builds, real constraints, and the decisions behind them.

How does a roast work?

Each presenter gets 15 minutes to run

  • What they are building

  • Their architecture.md

  • The constraints they are dealing with

  • Why they chose this stack

  • The problem they are currently stuck on

The room gets another 15 minutes to dig into the decisions:

  • Why this package or solution over the alternatives?

  • What trade-offs were made?

  • What breaks first?

  • What could be simplified or improved?

  • What would you do differently today?

One stack at a time. Three stacks per session.

Just cheeky questions, healthy disagreement, and honest conversations about why things were built the way they were. There’s no single “right” architecture. Come compare approaches, unpack real trade-offs, and sharpen the decisions behind what you build.

Curious about what works? View past summaries from our workspace here.

Note: Please grab a light bite before coming as refreshments won't be provided. We do, however, have a strong supper / late-dinner culture. Feel free to join us afterwards!

Presenter:

🤟 MIDI-Air by Pragya Jhunjhunwala
What if your hands became the controller for a rhythm game?

MIDI-Air is a two-player rhythm game where players sign ASL letters A-G instead of tapping keys. Each correctly recognised hand sign becomes a note in the song.

✈️ Roamsie by Xue Hui Tan (Camille)
Ever spent hours trying to plan the “perfect” travel itinerary?

Roamsie is an AI-powered travel planner that generates personalised itineraries around your preferences and travel constraints, with one place to organise, edit and manage your trips.

🤖 Building Agents: Dos & Don’ts by Carlos Chacon
What does it take to build AI agents that are useful, reliable and safe in real business settings?

Drawing from his experience building Olano AI, Carlos will share practical lessons around agent architecture, memory, tool use, approvals and security - plus common mistakes to avoid!

👋 More About Techies

Techies is a community where engineers come together to get geeky, challenge their craft, and learn from one another, without the fluff.

They've also wrapped Season 1 of Do You Even Build, a podcast for devs, by devs, where community contributors weigh in on tech news and what it means for how we actually build. Check out the podcast here.

More About the Series

After Dark is Lorong AI’s evening meetup series for the AI community. Bringing together talks, demos, and community sharing sessions, the series creates opportunities to connect, explore emerging technologies, and exchange insights across the ecosystem
