Book Discussion: AMANAT: Womenโs Writing from Kazakhstan
โWelcome to our Book Discussion!
โRead along with us
โThis time we read and discuss a book from Kazachstan ๐ฐ๐ฟ (Central Asian region): AMANAT: Womenโs Writing from Kazakhstan, edited and translated by Zaure Batayeva & Shelley Fairweather-Vega. Read about the book here.
โNote: availability of English books at local book stores and libraries can be somewhat challenging, so make sure that you start looking into how and where to get your copy as soon as you can! Of course you can also use a digital (pdf/epub) copy of the book. If you struggle to find this book, you can reach out to us: asianbookclubhelsinki@gmail.com or via Instagram DM.
โJoin our book discussion
โTogether we'll create an open, inclusive space where everyone gets to share their experiences they've had with the book โ reflections, insights, perspectives, and opinions. All experiences are welcomed!
โWe split up in smaller groups in which you are encouraged to make it your own (open and informal) conversation about the book. There will also be a discussion guide available to help structure and/or deepen the conversation.
โExtra: As this time we read a collection of short stories, we advise you to make some notes after reading each story. This will be helpful for the book discussion!
โOur (flexible) program:
โ15:00-15:30 Ordering drinks & treats and Introduction
โ15:30-16:30 Book Discussion
โ16:30-17:00 Group Shares & Wrap-Up
