About Event

Please join us on Zoom to hear from two technology startups coming out of the University of Maryland. This online call is intended to highlight promising entrepreneurs, connect them to resources, build awareness of their work, and amplify their current needs (funding, hiring, customer introductions, and more).

On May 21 at 11:00 a.m. ET, we will hear from two University of Maryland startups:

  • HighT‑Tech is commercializing a breakthrough materials manufacturing platform that fundamentally redefines how high‑performance materials are made. The company leverages a patented Ultra‑Fast High-Temperature Shock (UHS) process to synthesize novel materials in seconds with unmatched precision, efficiency, and scalability. By delivering precise temperature control, record‑setting sintering speeds, and uniform heating in a continuous electrified platform, UHS unlocks superior performance while dramatically reducing energy use, emissions, and reliance on critical raw materials. HighT‑Tech is focused on near‑term commercialization of high‑entropy alloy (HEA) catalysts, with a pipeline of additional applications including clean energy and advanced battery membranes and electrodes.

  • USPlasma is an advanced manufacturing company developing next-generation plasma reactor technology to enable the scalable production of high-performance materials. By generating stable, ultra-high-temperature plasma (up to ~8,000 K), the company unlocks new chemistries and manufacturing pathways that can improve material quality and process efficiency. The company's platform is designed to electrify traditionally energy-intensive industrial processes, with the potential to reduce costs and emissions by enabling production powered by renewable electricity. This approach aims to support more sustainable and scalable manufacturing across sectors such as advanced materials, energy, and chemicals.

This online event is open to all. If any of the below describe you, you will likely find the roundtable helpful:

  • You want to fund novel technology startups.

  • You are interested in understanding novel and entrepreneurial technology in and around the University of Maryland.

  • You are seeking to build partnerships and collaborate with technology entrepreneurs.

  • You are interested in finding an internship or job with technology startups.

Each entrepreneur will speak for no more than 10 minutes and will end their portion with a summary of their needs. Examples of needs might include talent, fundraising, customer intros, stakeholder and government connections, etc. A short Q&A session will follow for each entrepreneur after all presentations in breakout rooms.

The value of this event is in increasing connectivity between different stakeholders in the regional technology and entrepreneurship ecosystems. By holding this call, we hope to facilitate connections between entrepreneurs, supporters, funders, government, community members, and more.
