NYC Violence Prevention Series
When something happens in this city, the first people on the scene aren't professionals. They're you.
A bystander on the subway. A coworker in the office. A neighbor on the block. Most people want to help, but without the right training, wanting to help isn't enough.
CitySafe closes that gap.
This free session covers three skills that matter in real urban environments:
Situational Awareness & Threat Recognition — how to read a room, a street, a situation before it escalates.
De-escalation — proven verbal tools to defuse tension before it turns physical.
Defensive Tactics — practical and effective physical skills built for how New York actually works.
No experience required. No equipment needed. Just show up.
This session is made possible by the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program, funded by the NYC Department of Veterans' Services. Military veterans and their families are especially encouraged to attend. This program was built with the veteran community in mind, and your presence makes it stronger for everyone.
CitySafe works with elected officials, community leaders, and public figures across New York City. This is the same methodology, open to your whole neighborhood.
