Folk Tech Connection Call - July 2026 - With Tibet Sprague!

​Folk Tech is a solidarity-based movement among designers, developers, and people in communities who want digital technology that supports their daily life and interdependence without the extraction, exploitation, or surveillance found in most proprietary technology today.

​In Silicon Valley, people are “consumers” and “users.” We resist a narrative that turns people into subjects of a technocracy. With Folk Tech, we’re all just folks.

​We'll have an interview with Tibet Sprague, talking about the challenges and gratification of building a community platform at Hylo, working in collective at Terran, and convening technologists at the Collaborative Technology Alliance.

​We'll also have space for shareouts on projects, and time to connect. And we'll do a little debrief of DWeb Camp in Germany where LX was the curator of the Solidarity Tech track, and preview what Folk Tech will be up to at DWeb Camp Cascadia July 30-Aug 3 (come join us!)

​Note: We'll have an optional 30 minute hangout after our first hour to explore and meet in small groups and return with our insights and appreciations.
