About Event

Africa's food systems are under pressure from two directions at once — smallholder farmers locked out of profitable urban markets, and rapidly growing cities whose residents pay more for food that travels further, spoils faster, and delivers less. The gap between production and consumption is not a logistics problem. It is a systems design problem, and this session interrogates it directly.

The session will be facilitated by James Thuch Madhier, Founder and Executive Director of The Rainmaker Enterprise, whose work building climate-smart water solutions across South Sudan sits at the precise intersection of food security, environmental resilience, and community dignity. James brings a practitioner's lens to what it actually takes to design systems that hold, not just in the pitch deck, but in practice, and will be in conversation with founders and investors navigating the same tensions across food, agriculture, and supply chain across Africa.
