Philosophy Meetup: Mapping the Ethics of Gen AI technology

​We keep hearing the same lines "the future belongs to AI," "AI is inevitable," "adapt or be replaced." This meetup is about understanding the other side of that story.

​We will be discussing the issues that have resulted from rapid AI development data scraping, job loss, environmental damage, deepfakes, identity theft scams, AI-enabled mass surveillance, and more. And we'll ask what ideal regulation to address these issues might actually look like.

​The goal is a genuinely productive discussion between two sides those skeptical about the benefits of generative AI and worried about where the future is headed, and those who enjoy using it and remain optimistic.
