The Founders Guide to Cap Tables, Options & Equity - Presented by Carta

Starting a business is hard, but the potential upside can change lives if you’re able to achieve a successful exit while maintaining a reasonable amount of ownership in that business. In this session you will learn: (1) the basics of equity and cap table management, (2) how equity amongst co-founders is typically divided, (3) how to size an option pool, and (4) how to properly incentivize advisors and your first 10 hires.

Presenter Bio: Ryan O’Conor manages VC and Accelerator partnerships at Carta. Prior to Carta, Ryan spent 3 years at DoorDash building its white-label delivery business. Before joining DoorDash, he spent 7+ years working in business development and partnership roles across several early-stage companies. Ryan is a former founder, startup advisor, and an active angel investor in early- and growth-stage companies.
