Reviewing Local Metaphors through Hades

About Event
Join us for an afternoon that asks you to slow down and look at the city around you.
We begin with an hour-long talk and open Q&A on reviewing local metaphors through Hades (2023) written by Aishah Zainal, a conversation about noticing mundanity and the overlooked textures of everyday Ipoh.
Then, for the second hour, we turn from listening to writing: each participant chooses one ordinary object or landscape that has quietly caught their attention, such as a drain cover on Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, the peeling paint of a shopfront in Old Town, a pasar stall you've walked past a hundred times and spends the hour writing about it, a paragraph or more, in whatever form it wants to take.
