Grandparent & Grandchild Memory Shabbat
Join JADE & Shir Tikvah for a special Memory Shabbat for grandparents and grandchildren as we gather around the Shabbat table to share food, memories, and the legacies of people we love.
Together, we’ll welcome Shabbat by lighting candles, blessing wine and challah, followed by sharing a potluck meal. We invite each family to bring a food item that is connected to the memory of someone who has died: this can be a beloved family recipe, a favorite snack or a dish they always made. Any food item that brings a special memory to mind will work.
This Shabbat takes place during the Days of Awe and offers a gentle opportunity to reflect on Yizkor and the Jewish practice of remembering those who came before us. Through stories, food, and time together, we’ll explore how the people we love continue to be part of our lives - and how their memories and legacies can be carried forward by the next generation.
Come ready to eat, remember, share a story, and make some new memories together.
Grandparents, grandchildren, and the generations in between are all welcome! Not a grandparent or interested in attending solo? You are welcome!
