StandOut Berlin's Scene Study Club is a participatory evening for people who want to explore acting, performance and human connection by actually getting up and working on scenes. We’ll work with scenes from film, theatre and television and explore what makes them come alive — presence, listening, reacting, character, connection and truthful performance.
This isn’t a lecture. You’ll get on your feet, work with other people, experiment with scenes and discover what changes when you stop trying to perform and start responding to what’s actually happening in the moment. Discover what you are capable of.
No professional acting experience is required. Whether you’ve acted before, want to return to performance, or are simply curious about scene work, you’re welcome. Scene Study Club is the first live pilot from Standout Berlin — where performance meets real life.

Rey Melara brings together a background in acting, Berlin’s English-language comedy scene, live hosting and moderation, and many years of leadership in international corporate environments. His approach to scene study is practical and participatory, with a focus on presence, listening, reacting, connection and truthful performance — creating a space where people can experiment, take risks and enjoy the work. Rey is the founder of Standout Berlin.
Rey will provide a selection of scenes to work with. If there’s a scene you’d particularly like to explore, feel free to bring it along — and if you already have a scene partner, bring them too!
