It's Throwback Thursday!

Let's get together and celebrate the technology of yesteryear. On the docket for today is IRC.

IRC, or Internet Relay Chat is one of the progenitors of our modern realtime chat systems such as WhatsApp, Discord, et al.

Join us for an interactive session where we will get you connected to an IRC network and joined to the PHL Code Club channel on that network!

The format is gonna look like this:

1. Pick a client

   1. There are so many options to choose from. We'll go over:

      1. Terminal clients, such as WeeChat

      2. GUI clients, such as Halloy

      3. Web clients, such as Kiwi

   2. Mobile clients will be out of scope, but we hope to arm you with knowledge to explore if you see fit!

2. Get connected to the network

   1. We will be connecting to Libera Chat

3. Once you're connected we will get you joined to the #phlcodeclub channel.

4. From there we'll go over some of the common IRC commands and talk through some terms such as bouncers, bots, networks, etc.

5. As a bonus for anyone who is interested, we will walk through the NickServ bot and talk about how to register and identify an account.

That may seem like a lot, but it will feel effortless as we work through this together!

Can't wait to chat like h4x0r5 B)

XoXo,
