Landing
After registering, you'll receive an email with payment details. Your place is confirmed once payment has been received.
The theme of our first in-person Dance in Conversation gathering is Landing.
Not flying higher, but landing more fully.
Into the body.
Into the room.
Into genuine connection with another person.
There is a difference between meeting someone and truly arriving to meet them.
Throughout the evening, we'll be invited to welcome ourselves, notice the body, and gradually settle into the space. Music will hold us, words will be few, and there will be plenty of room to arrive at your own pace. And, in time, to arrive together.
This is a slow relational practice where you meet others without pressure, and where dancing becomes a way of listening:
To yourself, to another, and to what unfolds between you.
If you need to rest, if you want to move slowly, if you want to arrive, come and join the dance.
No dance experience is necessary.
Come as you are.
What to bring
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Layers are useful, as the room may warm up, and warm socks or soft shoes are good for moving around.
The venue has cushions and yoga mats if you'd like to sit on the floor. Chairs will also be available.
About Dance in Conversation
Landing is the first in a series of monthly gatherings exploring what comes alive in our dance: how we arrive, meet, listen, respond and come into relationship.
Dance in Conversation is an ongoing enquiry into a simple question:
What comes alive in our dance?
About Jesús
Jesús Acosta came to dance looking for movement and stayed because of what it revealed about trust, presence and the way we meet one another.
His practice is rooted in partner dance, particularly tango. Along the way, he has also immersed himself in 5Rhythms, Movement Medicine and trauma-informed relational work.
