About Event

OAHA is bringing together young people, community partners, employers and organisations across Wales to explore how opportunities, employment and support can work better for the next generation.

Across Wales, there are many brilliant programmes, charities, employers and initiatives already working hard to support young people. But we have also heard that, for many young people, it can still feel difficult to know what opportunities exist, where to go for support, or how to take the next step.

This workshop is about listening properly — and then using what we hear to shape practical action.

We want young people to share what feels true, what feels missing, and what would actually help. We also want employers and organisations in the room to listen, connect and think about how they can help create clearer, fairer and more accessible pathways into work and opportunity.

The insights from the session will help shape the next stage of OAHA’s Wales Social Mobility work, including our emerging white paper, future priorities and potential place-based pilots.

What to expect

This will be a relaxed, interactive and practical session.

Young people will be invited to share their views on jobs, opportunities, support and the future. You do not need any previous experience of workshops or business events, and you will not be expected to stand up and speak in front of everyone unless you want to.

Employers and organisations will have the opportunity to hear directly from young people, understand what makes it easier or harder to access opportunities, and connect with the people this work is designed to support.

Together, we will explore:

What helps young people find and access opportunities
What makes the journey from education to work feel difficult or confusing
Where support feels joined up, and where it does not
What employers, schools, colleges, charities and government need to understand better
What practical ideas could make a real difference in Wales

We also want the session to create meaningful connections. If you are an employer or organisation with upcoming work experience, internships, apprenticeships, insight days, mentoring or entry-level opportunities, please let us know so we can explore how these could be shared as part of the day.

Who should come?

Young people in Wales who want to share their views on jobs, opportunities and the future.

Employers and organisations who want to listen, learn and help create better pathways.

Charities, community groups, schools, colleges and youth organisations who support young people and want to help make sure their voices are heard.
