About Event

Join us at Mox for a conversation with Max Nadeau from Open Philanthropy's Technical AI Safety team. Max will share insights on what they're looking for in candidates, how the grantmaking process works, and the impact these positions have on shaping the AI safety research landscape.

Open Philanthropy’s Technical AI Safety (TAIS) team is recruiting for several grantmaking roles aimed at advancing research that reduces catastrophic risks from advanced AI. They’re hiring at multiple levels: Senior Program Associate, Associate Program Officer, and Senior Program Officer.

Open Phil’s TAIS grantmaking has grown rapidly, from $40M in 2024 to being on track for over $130M in 2025 (in addition OP’s other AI safety grantmaking in AI governance and policy and capacity building). They plan to expand both the quality and quantity of our support in 2026 and need more specialists to help them achieve this. In one of these roles, you'd likely be in charge of choosing where tens of millions of dollars of high impact research funding are directed annually.
