Star-lit Stories
An evening of storytelling with Timothy Frantzich
Long before stories were written down, they were shared around fires, beneath the stars, and across generations. These old tales carry something timeless: wonder, mystery, humor, and wisdom about what it means to be human.
Join us at Northern Commons for Star-lit Stories, an evening of storytelling with Timothy Frantzich. Drawing from ancient fairy tales, folklore, and the rich traditions of oral storytelling, Timothy brings old stories to life through his voice, imagination, and music.
On Friday, November 13, Timothy will share an Eastern Slavic fairy tale about the power of music to open doors and change hearts. At the center of the story is a brave woman who disguises herself as a man, setting the stage for an adventure full of unexpected twists. Hold onto your seats!
These old tales weren't originally intended just for children. They were stories for adults to listen to, ponder, and discuss together. We invite you to experience that tradition with us. Children are welcome, too, of course!
About Timothy Frantzich
Timothy Frantzich grew up in the western suburbs of Minneapolis, surrounded by marshland, spending countless hours wandering through brambles and cattails with his black dog.
His love of storytelling began at bedtime, when his father would invent stories that brought whole worlds to life. Later, Timothy discovered the ancient fairy tales and folk stories passed down through oral traditions for centuries, eventually collected and written down by storytellers such as the Brothers Grimm.
Since 1997, Timothy has taught at Waldorf schools, where he has shared thousands of stories by heart with his students. Those years deepened his lifelong love of storytelling and the power of the spoken word.
Also a lifelong musician, Timothy brings guitar and music into his storytelling, creating a distinctive experience that blends ancient tales with the living art of performance.
