The Conference on Democracy (COD) has been an annual tradition at Marin Academy for more than 20 years. This year, honoring the 250th Anniversary of the United States, COD’s theme is:
“A republic if you can keep it”: Economics, Education, and Policy.

9:00–10:00 AM | Morning Keynote: AG Rob Bonta (Main Gym) California Attorney General Rob Bonta joins student co-chairs to discuss the evolution of democracy and the conditions needed for a productive republic.
10:10 AM–1:25 PM | AI Innovation Workshop (SIC, Room 106) - REGISTRATION CLOSED Google DeepMind’s Zach Singleton ’02 and Jesse Engel ’02 lead a hands-on session solving food waste through AI. No coding required; pizza and prizes included.
10:10–11:15 AM | Governing AI (MA Theater) Former federal tech leaders (Jennifer Anastasoff, Anil Dewan, and Esa Sferra-Bonistalli) provide a behind-the-scenes look at how the U.S. government develops tech policy.
11:25 AM–12:30 PM | Collaboration Over Polarization (MA Theater) Dream.Org CEO and activist Nisha Anand shares strategies for finding common ground to drive racial justice and social change.
1:30–2:30 PM | The Intelligence Revolution (Main Gym) Richard Wang, CFO of Density AI, explores the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and its growing impact on education and the economy.
1:30–2:30 PM | Building Opportunity (MA Theater) Derwin Sisnett, CEO of Adaptive Commons, examines how housing policy and community development directly shape educational access and opportunity.
