Warm Homes, Safe Walking and Cycling to School, Clean Air

​The event will explore what a fair transition towards a low-emission and eventually zero emission Nagykanizsa could mean in people's everyday lives.

​Rather than focusing only on fossil-fuel phase-out, we want to connect energy and climate with practical local issues: affordable and energy-efficient homes, clean heating, energy poverty, cycling, public transport, Bicibus, safe walking routes to schools, healthier public spaces and urban resilience.

​The programme will combine short discussions with interactive activities for residents, families and young people. For example, children and parents could identify what would make travelling to school safely by bicycle or on foot possible; residents could contribute ideas for reducing household energy dependence; and local decision-makers could discuss which actions are realistically within municipal control.

​The Gas-Free Cities Declaration would provide the political link between these everyday issues and the wider European campaign, with the aim of beginning a longer-term conversation with the Mayor and municipality and the regional MP, about a socially just transition away from fossil fuels.
